Working directly with department leadership, this role manages fiscal and business operations for a large districtwide team, ensuring our campuses and facilities have the resources needed to provide safe, clean learning environments for students and staff. The Custodial Services Department provides clean, safe, and healthy facilities across Round Rock ISD’s 56 campuses. Operating at a high standard of service, our team relies on sound financial management, timely purchasing, and reliable payroll operations to keep our facilities functioning smoothly every day.

Description/Notes:

As the Department Budget Specialist, you will oversee and monitor departmental financial operations, including budget management, purchasing, vendor coordination, and fiscal reporting. You will interface regularly with campus staff, central administration, and department leaders, handling varied tasks that keep daily operations organized and compliant. This role offers hands-on experience across multiple areas of school district business operations in a supportive, continuous-improvement environment.

Key Responsibilities:
-Monitor departmental budgets across local, state, and special funding sources; prepare budget amendments, requisitions, reimbursements, and purchase orders.
-Partner with department leadership to develop budget proposals, track expenditures, analyze financial data, and prepare operational reports.
-Interface regularly with District Purchasing, Accounting, external vendors, and campus staff to ensure fiscal transactions comply with district policies and funding guidelines.
-Support departmental business functions, including assistance with payroll processing, supply tracking, and administrative operations.
-Recommend process improvements and collaborate with team members to modernize and streamline departmental workflows.
-Provide guidance to office staff on basic financial procedures and documentation requirements.

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent (required).
-Four (4) years of related experience in bookkeeping, budget monitoring, accounting, or administrative financial support.
-Strong proficiency in spreadsheets, financial databases, and standard office software.
-Knowledge of basic business mathematics, financial recordkeeping, and purchasing procedures.

Salary Range:

Hourly Rate Range: $25.50-$30.35
