Phlebotomist II – Mon Medical Center Main Campus With a patient‑centered culture, the Phlebotomist will provide a positive experience to patients by collecting and receiving appropriate specimens for laboratory testing in an inpatient, outpatient, or off‑campus site environment. The role includes registering patients for laboratory testing and maintaining record retention processes and test result distribution. Responsibilities Patient Registration and Laboratory Test Ordering: Accurately complete patient identification with registration and order entry, review requisitions, and place orders. Processing/Accessioning of Specimens: Receive specimens and distribute copies of requisitions to appropriate departments. Specimen Collection Techniques: Collect lab specimens (blood by venipuncture and capillary technique, MRSA swabs, throat cultures, EKGs, urines, and kit collection) accurately with no more than 2% rejection. Understanding Roles and Responsibilities: Clarify job responsibilities, performance standards, and expectations; communicate with supervisors, seek clarification when needed, and accept change willingly. Training and Mentoring: Provide mentorship to new lab assistants and assist in the development of other team members. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Light work: Exert up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, or negligible amounts constantly. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with medical terminology. Phlebotomy experience preferred; must complete phlebotomy training. Education Post high school diploma or certificate program (required). Phlebotomy/MA certification preferred. High school diploma or GED (required). Credentials Driver’s License (required).
