Job Title: Material Handler Job Description

The primary role of a Material Handler is to efficiently manage the receipt, storage, and issuance of materials, equipment, and other items within a stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard. This position ensures that materials are organized and accessible, facilitating smooth operations within the facility.

• Receive and count stock items, recording data manually or using a computer.
• Pack and unpack items for stocking on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses, or storage yards.
• Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, investigating discrepancies or adjusting errors.
• Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in various areas such as warehouses, tool rooms, or supply rooms.
• Label stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
• Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
• Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Team player with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies for effective security operations.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
• Experience with banding, cycle counts, forklift operation, handheld bar code scanners, loading and unloading, and shrink wrapping.
• Dot Hazmat Training.
• Multitasking and self-motivation with the ability to efficiently organize and prioritize multiple high-impact projects.
• Proficiency in SAP applications.

The role operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The work environment involves handling various materials and equipment, requiring adherence to safety regulations. The position offers a structured and organized setting, utilizing technologies such as SAP applications and handheld bar code scanners.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
