Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking an Embedded IoT Engineer on behalf of our client in Waltham, MA. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in Linux-based system customization, ISO image creation, embedded systems, and IoT technologies. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, customizing, testing, and maintaining Lubuntu-based ISO images for embedded medical device platforms. The position requires expertise in system administration, automation, application integration, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable, secure, and optimized device performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, customize, and maintain Linux/Lubuntu-based ISO images for embedded device platforms.

• Configure and optimize operating system environments to meet hardware and application requirements.

• Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline image creation, deployment, provisioning, and validation activities.

• Perform application integration, configuration, and system-level testing within customized Linux environments.

• Troubleshoot and resolve operating system, application, hardware, and networking issues.

• Collaborate with software, firmware, QA, and hardware engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.

• Execute system validation and verification activities to support product quality and reliability.

• Implement security, performance, and system reliability best practices across embedded platforms.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, test reports, and troubleshooting guides.

• Support software releases, upgrades, image deployment, and ongoing maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Proven experience creating, customizing, and maintaining Linux-based ISO images.

• Strong Linux system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting skills.

• Experience with Lubuntu, Ubuntu, or similar Linux distributions.

• Proficiency in Bash, Shell, Python, or other scripting languages for automation.

• Hands-on experience with application integration, system testing, and issue resolution.

• Strong understanding of embedded systems and IoT technologies.

• Experience analyzing system logs, debugging issues, and optimizing system performance.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with embedded Linux platforms and connected IoT devices.

• Experience working in medical device, healthcare technology, or other regulated environments.

• Familiarity with system imaging tools, deployment frameworks, and configuration management practices.

• Knowledge of hardware-software integration and device lifecycle management.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals and device communication protocols.
