The employee who was in this role just moved into a newly created role, Commercial Portfolio Manager so we are backfilling the credit role. This person will be required to work onsite in West Des Moines. We are looking for a talented individual who has potential to move into a credit officer role in 8 – 10 years, could be sooner. This person must have commercial underwriting experience, not mortgage underwriting.

Position Summary: The primary duties of the Credit Analyst III are to provide timely and quality financial statement spreads and calculate and determine a borrower's compliance with loan covenants. You will assist with the preparation of approval packets for commercial loan requests and annual reviews as well as support the credit risk function of the bank by performing other duties as assigned. This position needs to maintain a high level of accuracy in the credit process by being familiar with loan procedures, structure of credit, collateralization perfection and sound file documentation based on credit type. This function further provides credit file accuracy to support Lenders to facilitate sound lending decisions and assists by helping mitigate risks by ensuring credit is documented in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Spread business and personal financial statements and prepare financial analysis.
• Support commercial underwriting by inputting customer information into loan system (i.e., Abrigo).
• Prepare appropriate cash flow analysis to determine borrower's ability to service debt obligations.
• Independently calculate borrower financial covenants for compliance with loan agreements.
• Prepare various reports that support management reporting and tracking.
• Familiar with Loan Policy and Loan Guidelines in order to determine compliance and identify exceptions to policy.
• Work with Commercial Portfolio Managers to understand clients' requests and/or current financial performance.
• Independently research and analyze company, industry and economic data.
• Attend loan department and other committee meetings as requested by management to participate in decisions that affect ongoing and future operations of the loan department.
• Successful completion of any assigned credit training.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned in alignment with the Bank's mission, vision, and core values.

Qualifications & Requirements: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field preferred. Or an equivalent of combined education and relevant work experience. 5 to 7 years Credit Analyst experience required. Prior underwriting experience in commercial banking or other related financial experience Working knowledge of cash flow, TVM, ordering and reviewing commercial appraisals, useful life of collateral, loan structure and other Banking standard UW metrics. Knowledge of banking regulations and financial markets. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to research and understand commercial and commercial real estate lending and banking regulations. Ability to deal effectively with customers and all levels of the bank organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling tools.
