Job Description Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for patient interaction, particularly in pediatric dentistry. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety standards and HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix or Open Dental for scheduling appointments, managing patient information, and documenting treatments. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions. Monitor vital signs as needed during procedures to ensure patient safety. Assist with pediatric patients, providing a comforting environment during their visits. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary. Collaborate with the dental receptionist to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent customer service. Requirements Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Proficiency in using dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures. Experience with medical imaging technologies such as 3D scanners is a plus. Knowledge of infection control practices and ability to implement them effectively within the clinic environment. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and their families. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Certification in dental assisting is preferred; familiarity with Epic or similar medical coding systems is advantageous.
