Communications & Marketing Coordinator

The Communications and Marketing Coordinatorwill performavariety oftechnical and professionalduties related to Bedford Countys external and internal communications. This position is under the general supervision of the Director ofPublic Information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and implement a social media strategy for Bedford Countys main and department-level social media platforms. Create new and engaging content for Bedford Countys social media platformsbyutilizingthe latest effective social media trends. Collaborate with departments toidentifysocial media, graphic design, and other communication needs (both internal and external) and present solutions to theDirector of Public Information. Create graphics for social media, posters, billboards, etc. Respond to and fulfill requests fordigital marketing materials such associal mediagraphics, posters, billboards, etc. Assistin the maintenance of Bedford Countys four websites. Assistin project management for marketing campaigns involving Bedford County departments. Assistin the creationand execution ofBedford County Community Connectiondigital newsletter. Attend County eventsor meetingsas needed to take photos and/or video, may include evenings and weekends on occasion. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to take direction and work independently on tasks. General knowledge of major social media platformsisrequired. Generalknowledge of graphic design platforms such asCanva andAdobeInDesign ispreferred. Education/Experience Bachelors degree from afour-year college in communications, journalism, marketing,or a related field is preferred.A combination of education and professional experiencedirectly relatedto this position may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. Minimum of 1-3 years in a professional work environment.
