The company is a union contractor with a strong self-perform operation, giving its Project Management team direct exposure to field execution, estimating, client relationships, and overall project strategy. Their work is heavily focused on i ndustrial construction, structural steel, concrete, civil work, and other self-perform trades. The company offers a strong project pipeline and long-term stability while allowing employees to remain close to home for the majority of their work. Position Overview The company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager to join its growing construction team. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys managing multiple projects, wants exposure to both project management and estimating , and is interested in working in an environment where employees wear multiple hats and have direct access to company leadership. Depending on experience level, candidates will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects while continuing to develop skills in conceptual estimating, proposal development, client management, field coordination, and overall project execution. For an Assistant Project Manager, this role offers a strong path toward becoming a well-rounded Project Manager. For an experienced Project Manager, the position provides greater ownership, variety, and involvement in both operations and preconstruction. Project & Company Highlights Industrial and specialty commercial construction Strong focus on structural steel, concrete, civil, and self-perform work Union field workforce Average project size of approximately $500K Project Managers may oversee 6-7 projects simultaneously Repeat clients can generate significantly larger project opportunities Exposure to both project management and estimating Direct interaction with clients and company leadership Family-oriented, collaborative culture Monthly one-on-one meetings focused on employee development Local work with limited, project-dependent travel Travel may range from a few days per month to 1-2 days per week during more active project phases Not a Monday-through-Friday traveling position Key Responsibilities Assist with or independently manage industrial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and client expectations Coordinate field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders Work closely with union Superintendents and self-perform field teams Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and project documentation Support project scheduling, procurement, buyout, and cost controls Participate in conceptual estimating, pricing, and proposal development Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents Coordinate structural steel, concrete, civil, and other construction activities Participate in owner, client, subcontractor, and internal project meetings Develop and maintain strong client relationships Identify project challenges early and work proactively to develop solutions Support quality control, safety compliance, and project closeout Requirements Commercial or industrial construction experience with a General Contractor preferred Experience in self-perform construction strongly preferred Structural steel, concrete, and/or civil construction experience is highly desirable Experience managing or supporting multiple projects simultaneously Basic estimating, conceptual pricing, or preconstruction experience preferred Strong understanding of field operations and subcontractor coordination Strong client communication and relationship-building skills Ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with field teams and leadership Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities Willingness to wear multiple hats and continue developing across different areas of construction Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred Equal Opportunity Employer Tiello is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
