Housing & Food Services has an outstanding opportunity for Food Service Worker 4 Banquet Captain to join their team.

About This Opportunity

Reporting to General Manager Bay Laurel Catering, the Food Service Worker 4 Banquet Captain is responsible for leading and participating in all service aspects of catered events including: gathering, preparing and delivering supplies, setting up and restoring event sites, training and coordinating our student service team and serving food.

Key Responsibilities

Event Operations & Food Service (60%)

  • Coordinate event preparation and execution by reviewing banquet event orders, gathering supplies, and preparing event setups according to timelines and section maps.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages for catered events, including coffee service, specialty non-alcoholic beverages, and occasional bartending support.
  • Operate delivery vehicles and motorized equipment safely and in compliance with University policies.

Customer Service & Team Support (20%)

  • Provide professional customer service and ensure positive interactions with clients, guests, and event attendees.
  • Lead, train, and support student employees in food service operations, equipment use, and departmental procedures.

Inventory, Safety & Sanitation (20%)

  • Monitor inventory and par levels, communicate supply needs, and assist with preparation for upcoming deliveries and events.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of work areas and catering equipment.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department.

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card and (if required) a Class 12 Liquor License within two weeks of employment, one year of related experience in catering or dining and customer service,
  • Possession of Washington State Driver's License (if required).

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Working Conditions

  • Physical requirements
    • Frequent, repetitive arm, hand and wrist motions
    • Continuously reaching at waist level and occasionally above waist and shoulder level
    • Continuously performing fine manipulations such as slicing and dicing
    • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds; occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
    • Frequently pushing and pulling up to 10 pounds of pressure; occasionally pushing and pulling with 20 pounds of force
    • Standing up to 90 minutes at a time for up to 7.5 hours a day, varying stance and postures
    • Working in a confined space such as a store room or walk-in refrigerator/freezer
    • Working in a warm and humid environment

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum: $45,144.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum: $58,632.00 annual
