MRI Technologist-Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center-Per Diem

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for creating cross‑sectional images of patients’ bodies for diagnostic purposes using magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Principal Accountabilities Position the patient on the examining table and place the specified coil (e.g., head coil or knee coil) close to the area of interest, following protocols requested by the radiologist. Demonstrate use of the microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during the examination. Enter data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, specified orientation, and entry position into the MRI equipment into the computer. Key commands to specify scan sequences and adjust transmitters and receivers in the computer. Observe the patient through the control room window and on the closed‑circuit TV screen to monitor safety and comfort. View images of the scanned area on the video display to ensure image quality. Key in data on the camera keyboard to photograph images. Alert staff entering the magnet room to the danger of wearing or carrying metal around the magnet. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate’s degree in radiology and/or a graduate of an accredited radiology program is required. State RT license for ARRT candidates through the NJDEP, or MR certified through ARMRIT. BLS certification through AHA.
