Maintenance Technician

POSITION TITLE: Maintenance

Shift: 3:00 PM - 1:00 AM , 4 days a week with a rotating schedule

( Monday - Thursday / Tuesday - Friday ).

Salary: $25.00-$27.00 plus $1.75 shift differential

POSITION SUMMARY : Maintenance is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
• Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
• Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
• Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
• Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
• Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
• Assist in creation and maintaining of a safe work environment.
• Work with production to minimize down time through improved maintenance practices and design.
• Knowledge of plant emergency procedures.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date files on maintenance parts and supplies.
• Routine inspection/maintenance of plant & equipment.
• Must be able to operate forklift and clamp truck.
• Administer plant preventative maintenance program.
• Maintain on hand inventory of repair/replacement parts and general maintenance inventory.
• Work with contractors on all contracted projects.
• Maintain body of vendors and related files.
• Be available for off-shift maintenance needs when on-call.
• If assigned the coordinator position: establish and maintain systems to coordinate maintenance resources.
• Perform forklift training.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 3-5 years manufacturing plant maintenance experience. Exposure to paper converting operation preferred. Must be familiar with all tools, gauges, and measuring devices of the maintenance trade.

  • Cost Consciousness - Works within approved budget; Develops and implements cost saving measures.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
