SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Summary You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the CORPORATE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT, INFRASTRUCTURE DIVISION, SAFETY BRANCH of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV KEYPORT WA. Responsibilities You will conduct safety and occupational health workplace and program evaluations and surveys. You will plan, schedule, and conduct periodic scheduled and unscheduled inspections and surveys of assigned facilities and operations to identify safety and occupational health hazards and to evaluate for compliance with applicable standards. You will act as a technical advisor to military and civilian supervisors on matters that could affect the safety and health of personnel, equipment, and/or facilities. You will investigate injuries and illnesses which may result in the permanent or temporary disability of a worker due to workplace mishaps. You will be responsible for establishing, managing, overseeing, auditing, and evaluating the safety programs to ensure compliance with Federal Regulations and Navy policy. You will analyze work practices and techniques, production processes, tooling, and equipment, and work environments for risk factors and coordinate with production Departments to comply with program requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical authority and Program Management for comprehensive Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) programs in high-risk industrial, manufacturing, and maritime environments. Qualifications must demonstrate expert-level application of OSHA, Navy, NRC, ANSI, and NFPA standards to evaluate hazardous work processes, conduct severe mishap investigations, and implement complex engineering and administrative hazard controls across geographically dispersed operations.
