Special Instructions to Applicant: This position is located at the Offsite District Multipurpose Center (ODMC), 5450 N. Riverside Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76137.

Job Summary:

This role is responsible for overseeing the administration of the Tarrant County College District (TCCD) district-wide landscape irrigation program to ensure it meets all applicable requirements and maximizes water use, particularly during drought periods.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Performance Requirements*
Reviews and approves the installation, expansion, upgrades and maintenance of all TCCD landscape irrigation systems, including campus and district central irrigation control systems, to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, codes and guidelines
Ensures the development, accuracy, and maintenance of record drawings for all existing and newly installed irrigation systems
Develops and implements irrigation schedules for all campuses utilizing weather data and site-specific factors, including terrain, soil conditions, and landscape materials, to ensure efficient water management and plant health
Collects and maintains seasonal weather data for each campus and site and continuously monitors district-wide irrigation system operations to ensure efficient water use, optimal system performance, and the health of landscaped areas
Monitors irrigation system operations to ensure compliance with district standards and demonstrates the District's commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible water conservation, particularly during drought conditions
Identifies opportunities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of irrigation system operations and maintenance and prepares budget packages and funding requests for landscaping projects and services across all campuses, as needed
Monitors the physical condition and operational performance of irrigation systems and recommends repairs, upgrades, or replacement projects to ensure reliable, efficient, and sustainable operation
Participates in ongoing safety training programs covering the procedures, equipment, and work practices necessary to safely perform operational and maintenance activities

Service Excellence
Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Supervision
Works under the supervision of the assigned department leader

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours and five (5) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements; or any equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Current Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Irrigation Technician (IT) or Landscape Irrigator (LI) License
Valid Texas Driver License with acceptable driving record and reliable transportation; ability to successfully complete TCC authorized driver requirements within the first 90 days of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

Current Irrigation Association Landscape Irrigation Auditor Certification
At least one (1) year's working experience using irrigation design software to evaluate, and optimize irrigation systems and related infrastructure
At least one (1) year's working experience managing irrigation systems across multiple locations, including identifying, recommending, and implementing improvements that enhance operational efficiency, water conservation, and system reliability

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of irrigation system installation, operation, maintenance, and repair, including water management principles, system optimization, and preventative maintenance practices
Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and building effective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems, including the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft 365 platform, and Smartsheet
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly, ensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strong attention to detail and organization
Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume
Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
