Pathology Laboratory AssistantThe Pathology Laboratory Assistant will provide administrative help in the laboratory as it relates to specimens and slides.Essential Duties And Responsibilities:Receives and accessions pathology laboratory specimens into the laboratory interface system (LIS)Scans specimen grossing information into LISHandles special requests for IHC stainingReceives shipments of returned slides and prepares them for weekly QAFiles all slides and paperworkPrepares/labels Cytology and Histology slides on a daily basisAssists in scraping histology blocksPrepares cases for second opinions and follows up on their returnTroubleshoots and resolves phone calls regarding patient specimen status, as well as handling department triages and faxing reports as neededGenerates accession logsOrganizes and maintains block and slide archiveUnpacks suppliesCharges the processor weeklyOther duties as assignedPerform urine dipsticksEducation And Qualifications:Minimum Education of a HS Diploma; Associate degree preferredMust possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to communicate effectivelyMust have experience with data entry and computers Premiere Medical
