ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  Freight Management & Execution

1. Assist in managing drayage shipments from booking through delivery.
2. Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with customers and carriers.
3. Monitor shipment activity and provide proactive updates.
4. Ensure shipment documentation is accurate and complete.
5. Learn port, rail, container, and drayage-specific operations and terminology.

Customer & Carrier Management

1. Develop relationships with customers and carrier partners.
2. Respond to customer and carrier inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
3. Assist with carrier sourcing and capacity development activities.
4. Support rate procurement and quoting activities.

Problem Resolution

1. Identify shipment delays, service failures, and operational risks.
2. Work with Logistics Managers to develop and implement solutions.
3. Assist customers and carriers in resolving shipment issues.
4. Escalate significant service concerns appropriately.

Financial & Performance Management

1. Assist in reviewing shipment profitability and carrier costs.
2. Verify carrier charges and supporting documentation.
3. Support achievement of team revenue and profitability goals.
4. Maintain accurate data to support operational reporting and KPI tracking.

Professional Development

1. Complete training and skill development activities designed to prepare for independent freight management.
2. Develop proficiency in transportation systems, customer communications, and carrier management.
3. Demonstrate increasing autonomy and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
4. Participates in special projects and handles all other assigned duties as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
2. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
5. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
7. Desire to build a career in logistics and transportation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a physical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands, arms, and fingers to handle and lift objects up to 10 pounds.
