About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required in high acuity and high pace environments. License: Compact license required. Certifications: BLS, NRP required. Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate. Must-Have: Must have current supervisory references. Must pass clinical review. Must be able to circulate and provide newborn care, including eye care and vitamin K injections. Must have high risk experience in labor and delivery. Description: Local candidates will receive the same rate as travel candidates. Perm candidates of any facility are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months. Candidates must have 3-5 years of high-risk experience, with a strong preference for those with 5 years. First-time travelers are accepted. Approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates are expected to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Floating to postpartum and antepartum units may be required, as well as to sister facilities that provide maternal and newborn services. Experience with electronic fetal monitoring is required. The unit has a daily census of approximately 15 patients, with 500-600 deliveries per month. Candidates must function in the role of baby nurse during delivery and care for newborns until transfer to postpartum. Staffing will adhere to established guidelines. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in handling high-risk and high-volume labor and delivery scenarios. Unit details include high-risk delivery services and a need for candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments. Special procedures such as amnioinfusion and neonatal resuscitation are part of the expected skill set. Caring for the newborn includes assessments for conditions such as hypoglycemia and performing necessary interventions. Expectations include administering medications and managing various aspects of maternal and neonatal care, including breastfeeding support. Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities. Refusal to float may lead to termination of assignment. Communication devices necessary for duties will be supplied as required. Candidates should not contact facility personnel directly.
