Job Description The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant is a qualified professional who provides occupational therapy services to clients in an outpatient setting or in the home/community as prescribed by the referring physician and supervising Occupational Therapist. Qualifications Education/Certification: Associate’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited university to fulfill Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant requirements. Current state license to practice Occupational Therapy in the state where services will be delivered (Texas by the Executive Council of Physical and Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners). Must be in possession of current state license on or before the first day of employment unless otherwise agreed in contract. CPR certification Essential Functions Implementation: Implement direct and consultative occupational therapy services for learners in various locations and delivery systems (individual or group settings). Implement and monitor goals and objectives of therapeutic activities in conjunction with supervising OT. Demonstrate knowledgeable, efficient, and accurate use of electronic data collection. Assist in the creation and implementation of occupational therapy services within the current and evolving ABA structure in the assigned practice location and setting, working closely with the Director of Occupational Therapy. Evaluation and Documentation: Assist the supervising occupational therapist in re-evaluation assessments at least every six to nine months (unless required more often based on progress or insurance authorizations). Demonstrate knowledge of and use of a variety of standardized assessment/screening tools effectively under the direction of the Director of Occupational Therapy. Demonstrate ability to assist and provide feedback to assist in writing of comprehensive evaluation, re-evaluation, and progress reports that communicate goals and objectively to parents, therapists, and support staff. Conduct and submit progress reports every three months with guidance and monitoring by the supervising occupational therapist. Assist in forming measurable and observable long term and short-term goals. Collect observable and measurable data for goals. Ensure that patient charts are documented accurately and entered on a timely basis as established with supervisor; comply with HIPAA regulations. Collaboration/Communication: Consistently communicates with all Departmental Directors/Supervisors regarding specialized programs and results from sessions if requested. Provide routine notes and feedback as requested by supervising occupational therapists. Communicate clearly with parents, other support staff, specialists and administration regarding patients in compliance with privacy regulations. Collaborate and arrange meetings with team members as necessary for the maintenance of treatment programs. Seek additional information from supervisor or administrator as warranted. Actively participates in regular team meetings with supervisory staff members, interdisciplinary team members, and other support staff using appropriate social skills, problem solving and conflict resolution. Conduct training on topics related to occupational therapy for all staff. Participate in assigned multi-disciplinary training or projects. Professional Development and Conduct: Identify professional strengths and limitations and set and meet performance goals. Follow CoLlab Pediatric Therapies procedures as outlined in the Staff Handbook. Fulfill national and state board continuing education requirements to maintain that all professional licenses are in good standing. Supervisee Responsibilities: Participate in regular supervision meetings with the supervising OT. Maintain all documentation recording in meetings and during supervised treatment sessions. Maintain documentation in conjunction with maintenance of COTA licensure, including supervision log. Work within scope of practice as a COTA. Alert supervising OT of any areas in which the COTA feels uncomfortable or needs increased supervision for best practice and clinical decision-making. #J-18808-Ljbffr One of the Kids
