Quality Assurance Specialist

Job Summary:


The OIC-Quality Assurance Specialist 1 (QAS1) is responsible for developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks to ensure software quality. This role involves translating business and functional requirements into reliable automated tests, troubleshooting issues, validating APIs and databases, and integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines. The specialist will work onsite in Columbus, Ohio, and collaborate closely with development and QA teams to improve automation coverage and reliability.

Responsibilities:

• Translate business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, and defects into automated test scenarios and test cases.
• Create and maintain reusable automation components such as fixtures, Page Objects, API clients, data factories, and utilities.
• Debug failed tests to identify root causes including application code, automation code, environment, configuration, network, or test data issues.
• Develop and maintain reliable test data, cleanup routines, and ensure parallel-safe test execution.
• Participate in code reviews, defect triage, test planning, regression testing, and release validation activities.
• Link automated test coverage and execution evidence to Azure DevOps work items and test plans.
• Continuously improve automation reliability, execution speed, maintainability, reporting, and coverage.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 5 years of QA/testing experience.
• At least 2 years of hands-on test automation development experience.
• Strong experience with Playwright or Selenium automation tools.
• Proficient in UI automation and REST API automation.
• Working knowledge of SQL and database validation.
• Strong understanding of test design techniques including negative testing, boundary testing, role/access testing, and regression testing.
• Experience with Git and collaborative code review processes.
• Experience running automation tests within CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to create reusable fixtures, Page Objects, API clients, test data factories, and custom reporting components.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced experience with Playwright and TypeScript.
• Experience with parallel test execution and designing worker-safe tests.
• Expertise combining UI, API, and database validations within a single business workflow.
• Familiarity with Docker and container technologies.
• Exposure to performance testing and accessibility testing.

Special Considerations:

• Work must be performed onsite at 30 W Spring Street, Columbus, Ohio (William Green Building, 8th floor).
• Use of government equipment outside the United States is strictly prohibited.
• Candidate must agree to undergo a BCI fingerprint background check.
• Contractual adherence to security and compliance provisions is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule is onsite; specific shift patterns were not detailed but full-time presence at the designated location is required.
• Contract period is from September 14, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
