Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant

The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their team in Milwaukee, WI. The APP will join a multidisciplinary team of providers dedicated to maximizing the rehabilitation of patients with general rehab needs, stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, multi-trauma, etc. in both the inpatient consult service and outpatient setting. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

Position Highlights:

• Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive and psychosocial status.
• Orders and interprets laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.
• Monitors effectiveness of plan of care.
• Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed.
• Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.
• Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors.

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin is one of the largest medical rehabilitation programs in the country. There is a broad range of clinical, educational and research services available, providing comprehensive care for the disabled. Rehabilitation physicians, residents, fellows, and medical students, together with predoctoral and postdoctoral graduate students, contribute to the activities of the department.

Qualifications:

• Preferred Experience: Previous experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, brain injury, neurology, neurosurgery, trauma or acute care preferred.

Minimum Education:

• Advanced Practice Nurse: Master's Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
• Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.

Minimum Requirements:

• Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner
  • Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • Certification Requirements:
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
    • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
    • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
    • Family NP (FNP)
• Physician Assistant
  • Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Certification Requirements:
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
