We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support a service-based organization in Knoxville, TN. This contract position has potential to go contract to permanent, and is a strong fit for an accounting specialist who can keep financial records accurate, assist with payroll activities, and contribute to monthly and annual closing tasks. The role offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact by maintaining organized bookkeeping processes and supporting daily accounting operations.
Responsibilities: • Manage incoming invoices and customer billing activities while keeping payable and receivable records current and accurate. • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements regularly to identify discrepancies and maintain reliable financial data. • Organize and update vendor files, including required tax forms and supporting compliance documentation. • Process payroll for a workforce of up to 50 employees with attention to accuracy and timeliness. • Contribute to month-end and year-end accounting close activities by preparing records and supporting documentation. • Maintain orderly financial records and ensure bookkeeping information is complete, accurate, and easy to access. • Provide day-to-day accounting and administrative support as needed to help sustain efficient finance operations.• At least 2 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally within a service-oriented business environment.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and payroll processing.
• Experience maintaining vendor documentation such as W-9 forms and related records.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks, with QuickBooks Online experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to balance multiple assignments effectively and meet established deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and solid organizational skills.
• Comfortable working independently while supporting broader accounting needs in a Contract role.
