Electrician

Job Description – Parma Metal Center General Motors is hiring qualified Industrial Electrician Journeypersons for work under minimal supervision. The role involves layout, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of complex electrical equipment and circuits, including troubleshooting and technical support on control systems. Responsibilities Follow established safety procedures according to OSHA standards and company policies. Maintain and repair electrical equipment. Analyze and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions to minimize production delays. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all plant equipment. Promote teamwork and cooperate with other departments. Participate in continuous improvement activities. Read and interpret drawings and wiring schematics. Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills. Minimum Qualifications U.S. Department of Labor completion of an apprenticeship certificate in the electrical trade or six (6) years of documented experience as an electrician. Successful completion of General Motors hiring process requirements, including comprehensive assessments, hair and drug testing, and a background check. At least 18 years of age. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency; eligible to work in the United States. Willingness to work flexible shift hours, including day, afternoon, night, overtime, weekends and holidays with short notice. Physical Requirements Quick response to safety instructions, alarms and signals. Ability to work and stand for extended periods. Comfortably wear personal protective equipment. Navigate a busy environment. Bend, twist, kneel, crouch and reach. May need to lift or carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Occasional sitting during certain tasks. Drive mobile equipment when needed. Compensation ranges for a Journeyperson In Training are $37.77 – $44.06 per hour, and for a Journeyperson $44.96 per hour.
