Family Medicine Physician & Medical Director About the role: Sheridan Memorial Hospital Association (SMHA) seeks a full-time Family Medicine Physician who will also serve as Medical Director across our Critical Access Hospital (including Emergency Department, acute and swing beds), Rural Health Clinic, Emergency Medical Services, and Long-Term Care services. You will practice comprehensive rural medicine, lead clinical quality initiatives, and collaborate closely with the CEO and clinical operations leadership. Provide full-spectrum outpatient primary care for all ages in SMHA’s Rural Health Clinic. Participate in hospital admissions, rounding and long-term care. Provide Emergency Department/inpatient call coverage (minimum 5 call shifts per calendar month). Lead and participate in SMHA quality programs: patient satisfaction, quality assessment and improvement, utilization review, risk management, infection prevention. Support clinical education and employee in-service programs; develop evidence-based protocols and clinical guidelines. Engage in long-range planning (equipment selection, budgeting, staffing) in collaboration with the CEO. Maintain effective relationships referring providers and the broader medical community; provide administrative leadership on committees as needed. Medical Director Duties: direct supervision of non-physician (PAs/NPs), oversee documentation and medical records completeness, participate in staffing/scheduling for ED as requested, and support accreditation/licensing and regulatory reviews SMHA is a private, not-for-profit system serving Sheridan County and surrounding communities, operating a 19-bed Critical Access Hospital (including swing beds), Long-Term Care, and a full-service Rural Health Clinic.
