Financial Analyst

Position Summary We are seeking a experienced and hands-on Financial Analyst to serve as a key member of the finance team for a growing company. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this role will act as the Controller’s right hand, supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, and financial analysis functions of the business. As part of a three-person finance team, the Financial Analyst will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving processes, supporting audits, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, analytical capabilities, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive finance professional with a minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience who is comfortable owning key accounting processes while contributing strategically to the organization’s financial operations. Key Responsibilities Financial Close & Accounting Operations Own and support the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting Prepare and post key journal entries, including accruals, revenue entries, prepaid expenses, payroll entries, commissions, and other month-end adjustments Perform and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner Maintain fixed asset schedules, capitalization entries, depreciation calculations, and lease accounting records Review general ledger activity and assist with account analysis, reclasses, and adjustments Support inventory accounting and COGS verification processes as applicable Assist with revenue recognition processes, including more complex revenue scenarios when applicable Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting packages and supporting schedules Analyze financial results and variances between actual results and budget/forecast expectations Monitor balance sheet and income statement activity to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement Provide ad hoc financial analysis and operational reporting support to leadership Accounts Payable, Cash & Payroll Support Oversee daily accounting activities including bank transactions, credit card activity, invoice processing, and vendor communications Support cash management activities, accounts payable processing, and weekly payment runs Prepare payroll journal entries, expense reimbursements, and payroll-related reconciliations Verify payroll funding activity through ADP, including payroll taxes, direct deposits, and related adjustments Audit, Compliance & Process Improvement Prepare audit schedules and support both internal and external audit requests throughout the year Assist with year-end reporting activities including 1099s, W-2 support, business license renewals, and other compliance requirements Support annual accounting activities including tax-related entries, transfer pricing, and account clean-up efforts Identify and implement process improvements, documentation enhancements, and internal control efficiencies across the finance function Serve as a trusted partner and backup to the Corporate Controller across accounting and finance operations Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting, financial analysis, or corporate finance experience Strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual accounting, month-end close, and financial statement preparation Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, accruals, and financial reporting Experience supporting audits and preparing audit schedules Understanding of revenue recognition and inventory accounting preferred Experience with payroll accounting and ERP/accounting systems Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong analytical capabilities Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a lean team environment Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally and with external partners Preferred Characteristics Trusted business partner mindset with the ability to support and collaborate closely with the Corporate Controller Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating in both strategic and tactical capacities Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Process-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency Adaptable and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Haivision MCS
