A well-established law firm in the New Orleans area is seeking an experienced Legal Billing Specialist to join its accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with attorneys and staff, and able to manage billing deadlines in a busy professional services environment.
- Set up and maintain client and matter information in the billing system
- Gather and verify billing rate details and related client/matter data
- Prepare, review, and process prebills/proformas as part of month-end billing
- Generate billing reports and assist with billing follow-up as needed
- Coordinate electronic billing submissions, appeals, and related billing platform activity
- Research and respond to billing questions from attorneys, clients, and internal team members
- Assist with daily cash receipts and related accounting support
- Work closely with attorneys, legal staff, and accounting team members to ensure timely and accurate billing
- Prior law firm billing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with e-billing required
- Experience with Elite 3E or a similar legal billing platform is a plus
- Strong Excel and general computer skills
- Associate's degree or equivalent legal billing/accounting experience preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well with attorneys, staff, and clients
- Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
