TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.Position DescriptionWelcome to the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. We are an academic surgery program with several hallmarks. First and foremost, we train the best of the next generation of independent, confident surgeons ready for general surgery practice or to pursue advanced fellowship training upon graduation. We do this by providing early autonomy in diagnosis and clinical decision making, perioperative care, and in the operating room itself. We believe that in order to practice surgery well, you must actually be in the operating room from the start of your surgical training. We value the collegiality and support we provide each other and ensure that camaraderie remains a defining characteristic of this program.This position would be faculty for TTUHSC while also holding leadership roles at UMC Health System Children’s Hospital. Potential for leadership role at UMC Health System as the Director of Pediatric Surgery.Major/Essential FunctionsProvide pediatric surgical and trauma call coverage at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital 10 shifts per month. Shifts are inclusive of 24-hour Call;Provide up to 6 days of clinic coverage inclusive of follow up care clinics, surgical consults and outreach clinics;Participate in quality improvement activities as part of a multidisciplinary team;Educate and mentor surgical residents and medical students; andEngage in research and scholarly activities to advance the field of pediatric surgery.Required QualificationsMD/DO or equivalent;Completion of USMLE Step 3;ABMS Board Certified in Surgery; andBoard Eligible in Pediatric Surgery.Preferred QualificationsABMS Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery3+ years of experience in Pediatric SurgeryRequired AttachmentsResume / CV Optional AttachmentsProfessional/Personal Reference, Professional License/Certification, Recommendation/ReferralBenefitsTTUHSC is committed to creating an environment where our team members can do their best work, with programs and benefits to support head-to-toe well-being.
