Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician training program or equivalent experience.
• Basic knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols accurately.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle medical instruments safely.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent.
• Experience working in a hospital or surgical center sterile processing department.
• Familiarity with healthcare information systems and inventory management software.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as those from the Joint Commission or OSHA.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, inspect, and decontaminate surgical instruments and medical equipment following established protocols.
• Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners to ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
• Assemble, package, and label sterile instruments and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments to operating rooms and other departments.
• Adhere to infection control policies and safety standards to minimize risk of contamination.
• Perform routine maintenance and quality checks on sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance.
