Production Controller (aircraft)

The primary purpose is: To serve as an Maintenance Operation Controller, in conjunction with the Production Superintendent, to assign priorities to aircraft production efforts, to direct action to resolve resource shortages, to maintain liaison among aircraft maintenance management, and to provide training to Air Force personnel in the accomplishment of tasks set forth. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of recurring manufacture, overhaul, or repair of products or projects using multiple-process production methods and procedures to develop plans and information necessary for the control of complex products such as airframes of fixed and rotary wing aircraft or a variety of complex and long-term facility repair and construction projects. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): 1. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements. 2. Knowledge of assigned equipment; Skill in effective written and oral communication. 3. Knowledge of and ability to interpret military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions, and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing production plans and schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. 4. Knowledge of maintenance organizational structures and skill in the distribution of personnel to obtain a balance of work; Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspections, repair, modification, and supply processes. 5. Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers to ensure continuing availability of material requirement. 6. Knowledge of aerospace systems, subsystems, components, and associated inspection, repair, modification, and supply processes. 7. Skill in oral communication to effectively communicate with senior operations and maintenance personnel. 8. Knowledge of and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems and aircraft maintenance documentation processes to co11ect, compile, and correlate production data from a variety of sources and use that data to determine compliance status of scheduled maintenance, inspection, and modification actions9. 9. Ability to correlate and analyze a variety of routine production data, technical manuals, and directives to determine applicability PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
