Build Systems Operating Assistant (2026-49670)

General Summary of Position Under the supervision of the Lead Operating Engineer or designee, the Build Systems Operating Assistant is responsible to respond to building alarms and determine next steps. The Operating Engineer will address customer questions and/or concerns regarding Facilities Maintenance Services; maintain equipment histories; review plans and specifications for building renovation, repair, and construction projects; monitor contractor compliance with plans and specifications. Respond to all building related problems reported by the staff, patients and visitors. Perform preventive maintenance procedures for systems, as assigned. Major Responsibilities Assist with the operation of the building systems Service minor building related issues reported by staff, patients, visitors and animals facilities In collaboration with Building Systems Operating Engineers perform routine preventative maintenance on building equipment and systems Document procedures, work activities, daily events and system operations Communicate all noteworthy incidents in a timely manner to supervisor and department head. Assist with repairs on equipment and systems Use technical manuals, drawings, sketches, service manuals and similar documents to resolve issues Clean, lubricate, adjust, and paint all mechanical room space and equipment in the mechanical rooms While in the performance of routine duties; may be required, as needed to perform all work associated with all maintenance trades of an equal or lower grade classification; where the work or task does not require a specific license Work all shifts, all days and rotations Performs other duties as required. Required Qualifications Trade school graduate, or equivalent experience 2 years experience with ventilating and air-conditioning (HVAC), maintenance and operation, automatic & pneumatic controls (DDC), laws and accepted procedures of building utilities operations, technical sketches, flow diagrams, performance graphs, prepare reports and present facts clearly, oral and written. Ability to operate all test equipment associated with maintenance and operation of building systems. Ability to wear protective devices for short periods of time. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, manual dexterity for handling large machines and small components/tools; ability to lift heavy objects; visual acuity for inspection and repair of systems and equipment. Ability to travel to off-site locations Compensation and Benefits In alignment with our commitment to pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is listed above (exclusive of benefits and retirement). Offers are typically made within the midrange to allow for future growth and development within the role.
