Norwegian-Speaking PhD Scientist for AI Safety

Role Overview

Help improve the safety of advanced AI systems by applying PhD-level scientific expertise to specialized technical content in Norwegian. You will assess and strengthen how models respond to scientific topics, including sensitive and dual-use subject areas. No prior AI or machine learning experience is required, and training will be provided for the workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create expert-level Norwegian prompts across specialized scientific subjects.
  • Evaluate and annotate model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate treatment of sensitive content.
  • Use structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversations.
  • Apply scientific expertise to improve model handling of specialized Norwegian-language technical topics.

Qualifications

  • PhD in chemistry, biology, or a closely related field, either in progress or completed.
  • Ability to develop prompts covering chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear topics.
  • Native or near-native Norwegian fluency and business-level written English.
  • Strong familiarity with current laboratory and computational methods in your specialty.
  • Sound judgment regarding scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Based in Norway, although applicants located elsewhere are welcome.
  • Chemistry-based experience with radiological or nuclear subjects, including radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics.
  • Demonstrated depth in a specialty such as organic or inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or genetics.
  • Research or coursework involving chemical safety and security, biosafety and biosecurity, or hazardous-materials handling.
  • Experience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical content.

Work Terms

  • Remote hourly engagement, with Norway preferred.
  • Immediate start date.

Compensation

Hourly compensation of 77 to 81.
