Safety/Quality Assurance Specialist Job Code: 2026:0402-084 Location: Yuma Proving Ground, AZ FT/PT Status: Full Time Business Sector: Test Range Operations Job Description Provide Occupational Safety & Health and Quality Assurance support for a large, diverse support services contractor workforce in a military defense systems testing environment, under the direction of a Safety/QA Manager. Conduct section Quality Control and Safety audits, investigate personal injury and vehicle accidents, and inspect buildings and shop areas for compliance with regulations such as OSHA, ARMY, and EPA. Review and enforce TRAX Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs). Assist in the education and enforcement of company Safety, Fleet Vehicle, and Quality Policies. Continuously assess current practices, identify areas of improvement, and solicit process improvements. Secondary duties include: identifying, analysing, communicating, and mitigating common industrial support activity hazards; investigating and reporting post‑incident causal factors; performing contract compliance activity inspections, work centre process‑improvement reviews, and interacting with Government subject‑matter experts and evaluators to facilitate a continuously improving Quality/Safety. Duties Confirms that audit procedures are properly carried out and maintained. Determines overall compliance by conducting inspections on buildings and areas to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Responsible for conducting investigations of personal injury and vehicle accidents. Resolves safety and quality problems by maintaining an active presence in the field. Maintains and investigates Near Misses and Safety Hazard Reports. Consults with management and other specialists to enhance operational procedures and improve overall efficiency and safety. Discusses Standard Operations with management and makes time‑sensitive recommendations for improvement and correction. Functions as an information source for the field and establishes a safety presence for the range, YPG and TRAX. Assists in administering the company drug and alcohol program, including random testing with on‑site collections of urine and breath samples. Prepares evaluation reports and submits them to management. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education / Licenses / Certifications / Experience Requirements BS in a safety/environmental or equivalent applied field, or equivalent experience within safety and quality control aspects. Training in safety/environmental courses, seminars, or certifications. Knowledgeable of OSHA, DOT, and NFPA regulations. Job Skill Requirements Proficient with MS Office Suite. Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and ability to work with a variety of personality types. Physical Requirements Pass pre‑employment drug screening, physical, and periodic retests. Wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed. Work in extreme weather conditions, including summer temperatures up to 120°F. Travel unaccompanied on the ranges. Lift 50 pounds unassisted. Job Requirements Possess a valid driver’s license without special restrictions. Have dependable transportation and means of communication. Speak, write, read, and understand English. Display a well‑mannered customer service attitude. Willing to cross‑train in other areas. Use “down‑time” effectively for benefit of test, self, and company. Be punctual, responsible, and dependable. Work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice to support test missions. Additional Desirable Qualifications Level II Ammunition Certification. HAZWOPER 40‑hour class. Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT). 30‑hour Occupational Safety and Health Training Course (Construction or General Industry or both). Experience with DOD or other government agencies. Certified Vehicle Accident Investigator. Experience with operations and maintenance of military equipment such as weapons and vehicles. Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements U.S. Citizen. High school diploma or equivalent. Possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain it for the duration of employment. Current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
