The Indiana Inspector General is responsible for investigating and addressing fraud, waste, abuse, and wrongdoing in any agency within the executive branch of Indiana state government. This includes any authority, board, branch, commission, committee, department, division or other instrumentality of the executive branch of Indiana state government. The Inspector General does not have jurisdiction over the judicial or legislative branches of state government or over local or county government. The State Ethics Commission has jurisdiction over: (1) a current or former state officer; (2) a current or former employee of a state agency; (3) a person who has a business relationship with a state agency; or (4) a current or former special state appointee. The State Ethics Commission has ultimate authority to interpret the Indiana Code of Ethics. Role Overview:
Within the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the Ethics Commission Director coordinates the activities of the State Ethics Commission and leads the advisory and engagement functions of the office. Duties include coordinating ethics commission meetings and hearings, coordinating and drafting of formal and informal advisory opinions, conducting legal research, coordinating education efforts for the OIG and coordinating agency ethics officers, among other duties. Salary: The salary for this position traditionally starts at $85,020.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary. - Serve as legal advisor to the State Ethics Commission on procedures, the Code of Ethics, Open Door laws, and Administrative Rulemaking.
- Responsible for organizing all matters pertaining to the State Ethics Commission meetings and assisting in drafting formal advisory opinions, orders, and final reports on behalf of the State Ethics Commission.
- Responsible for administering the Financial Disclosure Statement program and all other disclosure and waiver filings with the State Ethics Commission and OIG.
- Responsible for coordinating and issuing informal advisory opinions on behalf of the OIG.
- Manage statewide ethics training programs, including biennial ethics training and development of educational materials, presentations, and conferences.
- Conduct legal research and draft reports, legal memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Responsible for assisting in matters pertaining to Legislative affairs.
- Assist with media relations.

What You'll Need for Success: Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
- Admission to the Indiana State Bar and maintain an active attorney licensure in good standing.
- Knowledge of and experience in legal proceedings and enabling statutes of the OIG and State Ethics Commission. Must understand and observe the Indiana Administrative Orders and Procedures Act under IC 4-21.5.
- Thorough knowledge of state government organization and procedures as well as state statutes, rules, and law governing areas of responsibility.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a profession and courteous matter using tact, diplomacy, and authority.
- Must demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize workflow.
- Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
- Ability to solve problems.
