Summary

The Continuous Improvement Engineer / Industrial Engineer Business Specialist III leads continuous improvement initiatives and supports a culture of operational excellence within manufacturing operations. This role partners with Operations, Engineering, and Value Stream Leadership teams to identify, prioritize, and implement industrial engineering and Lean manufacturing initiatives aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include process optimization, manufacturing system design, productivity improvements, project leadership, employee training, and implementation of continuous improvement methodologies to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Partner with Operations to ensure improvement initiatives achieve expected results.
• Identify opportunities for synergy across projects and operational areas.
• Lead and facilitate continuous improvement and industrial engineering projects.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Train and mentor employees on Industrial Engineering principles and Lean methodologies.
• Collaborate with internal and external Industrial Engineers to share best practices.
• Design and develop manufacturing systems for new and existing production processes.
• Develop manufacturing cell layouts, ergonomic improvements, labor utilization plans, and line balancing.
• Establish operational methods and work standards using method analysis, time studies, work sampling, and delay studies.
• Develop and implement operator standard work to improve productivity and eliminate bottlenecks.
• Analyze manufacturing operations and recommend productivity improvements.
• Perform capacity analysis and optimize floor space, personnel, equipment, and material utilization.
• Lead or participate in Kaizen events to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Evaluate and recommend manufacturing, assembly, packing, and material handling equipment.
• Prepare Capital Appropriation Requests for engineering projects.
• Support Lean initiatives including 5S, one-piece flow, lead-time reduction, plant layout optimization, PPI, and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP).
• Maintain manufacturing documentation including standard work and routing information.
• Monitor compliance with safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
• Assist in planning new manufacturing facilities and operations.
• Stay current on emerging manufacturing technologies and apply them where appropriate.
• Provide recommendations to support manufacturing management systems.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering preferred; equivalent applicable work experience may be considered.
• At least 1-2 years of experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies, tools, and applications is required.
• 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with ISO quality standards.
• Strong Lean Manufacturing background with a Lean Management mindset.
• Demonstrated experience applying root cause analysis and countermeasure methodologies to solve manufacturing problems.
• Experience in advanced data collection, measurement, analysis, process improvement, and process control, including application of the PDSA cycle.
• Ability to quickly assess manufacturing floor issues and implement effective corrective actions to maintain production flow.
• Proven ability to lead continuous improvement projects from project definition through implementation and standardization.
• Strong project management and facilitation skills.
• Ability to lead and manage organizational change effectively.
• Experience conducting training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to develop strategic action plans.

• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, working at a computer workstation, and on the manufacturing floor.
