️ Senior Construction Estimator | Commercial Construction (Long Island)

Long Island, NY · Full-Time · On-Site · $150,000 to $200,000 + Full Benefits

A Long Island-based commercial construction and development firm (over five decades in business, family-founded, and growing) is hiring a Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction and help shape how the company pursues and wins work.

This is a leadership seat, not a desk in the corner. You’ll run complex estimates from conceptual budget through final bid across a genuinely varied portfolio, with real influence over the systems, cost data, and strategy behind every pursuit. What you’ll do

\n
• Lead estimating and preconstruction for commercial projects across multiple sectors
\n
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, GMP, negotiated, and hard-bid estimates
\n
• Run comprehensive quantity takeoffs and scope analysis
\n
• Review drawings, specs, and documents for completeness, constructability, and risk
\n
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals
\n
• Develop value engineering recommendations and cost-saving strategies
\n
• Support budgeting, procurement, and subcontractor buyouts
\n
• Join client, preconstruction, and design coordination meetings
\n
• Mentor junior estimators and build up the estimating team
\n
• Strengthen subcontractor and vendor relationships
\n
• Help build and improve estimating systems and historical cost data
\n

What you bring

\n
• 10+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (preferred)
\n
• Strong grasp of construction means and methods across multiple asset classes
\n
• Ability to run large, complex estimates independently
\n
• Sharp analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
\n
• Confidence managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
\n
• Experience with conceptual estimating, GMP development, and value engineering
\n
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software
\n
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
\n
• Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred)
\n
