Small Business Underwriter II

Our Small Business Lending Operations team is looking for a motivated Commercial Underwriter to help us support small business borrowers. If you're driven to enhance team capabilities and uphold rigorous credit standards, we want to talk to you. Responsibilities Underwrites and performs renewals or reviews of loans up to $10MM. Underwrites and decisions new loan requests, renewals, annual reviews, and credit assessments up to the limit of his/her commercial loan authority in accordance with Capital One Bank loan policy and portfolio performance objectives. Provides outstanding service to business bankers and other internal partners in the organization. Works with Small Business Bankers in structuring loan requests in a manner which will best fit Capital One policy while mitigate lending risks and best meeting borrower needs. Delivers a great overall customer experience, working closely with the Business Loan Advocates that are accountable for the end to end loan process from application to funding. Recommends commercial loan risks rating grades as part of the loan underwriting process, annual reviews, other interim reviews. Ensures appropriate application of all bank and line of business policies and procedures; supporting and driving adherence to regulatory compliance requirements. Is proactive about identifying and delivering improvements in our Small Business policy, underwriting, and/or risk management, and performs special project work as appropriate. Contributes to department training and growth. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience At least 4 years of experience in credit administration, small business underwriting, commercial loan underwriting or commercial lending Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience of experience in credit administration, small business underwriting, commercial loan underwriting or commercial lending Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting Completion of a formal credit training At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked. Plano, TX: $138,100 - $157,700 for Small Business Underwriter II Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
