Software Engineer, Level 3

What You Will Do:

As a Software Engineer Level 3 at Independent Software, you will design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting mission-critical operations. You will work with Java-based applications, distributed systems, databases, and containerized environments to develop scalable, reliable, and high-performing software solutions.

You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, collaborate with technical teams, and provide technical leadership to ensure software quality, performance, and successful system integration.

Key Responsibilities:



 

• Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance complex software systems and applications.
• Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and performance requirements.
• Develop and maintain Java applications using Spring Boot.
• Design and integrate database interfaces, queries, and distributed messaging systems.
• Develop and implement complex algorithms and improve software performance.
• Integrate software components into new or existing systems and environments.
• Troubleshoot defects, conduct testing, and ensure software quality.
• Support containerized applications and automated software delivery processes.
• Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and oversee software development activities.
• Collaborate with system engineers and technical teams on system design, integration, and documentation.

• CI/CD pipelines and practices

Additional requirements:

• Experience developing and maintaining complex software applications.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, system integration, and application performance.
• Experience with database interfaces, distributed systems, and complex algorithms.
• Experience leading software development teams and ensuring quality of deliverables.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Education and Experience:

Candidates must meet one of the following:



 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus twelve (12) years of Software Engineering experience on programs or contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; OR
• Sixteen (16) years of relevant Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Clearance Requirement:



 

• Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
