Software Engineering Intern

Copart is a global online vehicle auction platform with over 200 locations worldwide, connecting sellers and buyers in more than 190 countries. We are seeking passionate Software Engineering Interns with a strong interest in Artificial Intelligence to help build our next‑generation AI‑driven applications. Core Duties & Responsibilities AI Integration & Development: Design and implement features powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), generative AI, and machine learning APIs in our core web applications. Full‑Stack Engineering: Develop efficient, secure, real‑time applications, peer‑review code, and document solutions in an agile environment. AI Agent & Workflow Orchestration: Build and optimize conversational agents, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, and prompt engineering workflows. Collaboration: Communicate proactively with teammates, AI research, infrastructure, security, and QA teams to continuously improve processes and engineering excellence. Concurrency & Scalability: Write highly concurrent, multi‑threaded Java back‑end services that handle real‑time AI inference and data streaming. Required Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher (or currently pursuing) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a highly quantitative field. AI & LLM Foundational Knowledge: Hands‑on experience or academic projects with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama, HuggingFace); familiarity with RAG architectures and prompt engineering; understanding of vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Milvus, Chroma, pgvector). Backend & Concurrency (Java/Spring): Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring WebFlux, and MVC; solid knowledge of Core Java, multithreaded programming, and asynchronous task execution; experience with JUnit and mocking frameworks. Frontend (React/ModernJS): Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern client‑side frameworks (preferably ReactJS or NextJS); ability to build real‑time web applications (WebSockets, Server‑Sent Events). Soft Skills & Mindset: Excellent problem‑solving skills, strong mathematical/logical foundation, innovative drive, passion for emerging AI technologies, self‑motivated, curiosity, thrive in fast‑paced environments, and technical writing ability.
