Responsibilities Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about. Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to meet their needs. Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates. Provide customers with fresh and non‑perishable grocery products they have ordered. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager. Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; maintain proper temperatures and temperature logs. Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and answer questions or provide suggestions. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs. Notify management of customer or employee accidents. Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer issues. Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
