Summary About the Position: This position is located at Fox Army Health Center (FAHC) in Huntsville, Alabama, within the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Normal working hours are 0730 to 1600, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or federal holiday requirements. - Conduct rigorous biopsychosocial assessments, diagnose mental health conditions using the DSM-5-TR, and deliver targeted individual and group therapy for both acute and chronic conditions.
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness using objectives and measurable outcomes and makes appropriate adjustments for increased compliance and efficacy.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of patient care in accordance with current unit and hospital standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current DoD, DHA Federal and state regulations.
- Manage high-risk patients (e.g., trauma, suicidality), provide crisis intervention, and serve as a consultant to both multidisciplinary medical teams and military commanders regarding service member readiness, duty limitations, and safety planning.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate professional development activities, coordinate inter and intra-departmental in-service training on Mental Health related topics.
- This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust. Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position is required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
- This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 10% of the time to various locations
- This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
