Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Night position requiring an AL or Compact RN license, BLS, and experience with IV therapy, wound care, and isolation precautions.

Details

• Work setting is a community hospital Med/Surg unit
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Schedule is nights, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00), every other weekend required; 3x12 scheduling may also be considered
• Floating is required as part of this assignment
• Occasional charge nurse duties may be required on an as-needed basis
• Charting system: Paragon (preferred experience)
• Key skills performed include IV starts, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac

Requirements

• Active AL RN license or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Current respirator fit test required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Level II Trauma experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Proficiency in IV therapy, blood product administration, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions/PPE required
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Prior permanent employees of this facility are not eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Care responsibilities include wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, heparin and insulin administration, PCA management, PICC line care, and oxygen/nasal cannula management
• RTO requests are limited to a maximum of 7 days for the duration of the assignment
• Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are accepted
• Hospital-provided housing is available and is the recommended option given the remote location; shared units with private bedrooms, gender-specific floors, no dogs allowed — travelers coordinate directly with the facility
• Flight reimbursement (economy class only) is available for travelers flying to the assignment; economy-level receipts including detailed luggage receipts must be submitted for reimbursement
• Flight itinerary must be provided one week prior to the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival
