Conduct laboratory experiments to evaluate microbial interactions with ophthalmic products Design and optimize microbial model systems to simulate ocular environments Analyze experimental outcomes and provide technical feedback to fellow scientists Support product development initiatives by generating data that informs formulation and regulatory strategy Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including formulation scientists, toxicologists, and regulatory experts Document experimental procedures and results in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) Minimum Qualifications Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to internship or co‑op, and at least one additional semester following internship or co‑op Must be pursuing a PhD in Microbiology, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0/4.0 Demonstrated research experience in microbiology or related laboratory techniques Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship Preferred Qualifications Experience designing and implementing microbial model systems Familiarity with aseptic techniques, microbial culturing, and molecular biology tools Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication abilities Summer Internship Opportunity at Alcon: Gain real‑world experience in a global R&D setting.
