Controls Engineer I

Job DescriptionSummary: \n\nTrendsetter Engineering provides Multiplexed Electro-Hydraulic (MUX) Control Systems for use in the subsea industry. The Controls Engineer I supports the design, documentation, analysis, and testing of controls equipment for harsh topsides and subsea environments. Working under the guidance of more experienced engineers, this position collaborates with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and project teams to complete assigned engineering tasks in accordance with company, industry, and project requirements.\n\nPosition Duties:\n\n Support the definition of control system functionality, specifications, and associated schematics under the guidance of experienced engineers.\n Prepare and revise schematics, layouts, bills of materials, drawings, and models in accordance with established requirements and procedures.\n Assist with component selection and development of specifications and test requirements.\n Perform assigned design calculations and basic analysis of subsea and topside distribution equipment (SUTA, SCM, TUTA, HFL, MQC, etc.).\n Check assigned work for accuracy, completeness, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.\n Support design reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation updates.\n Coordinate assigned tasks with designers, engineers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service.\n Develop knowledge of applicable industry standards, company procedures, and controls system products.\n Communicate task status, technical concerns, and potential impacts to schedule, scope, budget, and quality.\n Perform engineering duties at customer sites or offshore when required and under appropriate supervision.\n Other duties, as assigned.\n\n\nPOSITION REQUIREMENTS\nMinimum Qualifications: \n\n\n Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Controls\n A strong understanding of electronics and their relationship to software, firmware, and mechanical interfaces and operation in a number of electrical specialties.\n A track record of success in learning, leveraging, and integrating proven technologies into new products to solve challenging problems.\n Broad knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and related work processes\n Installation and commissioning experience is a plus\n In-depth understanding of hydraulic systems\n Proven teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills.\n Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n A firm knowledge of electrical product safety.\n Software Tool Suite: AutoCAD, ANSYS, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office.\n\n\nAdditional Desired Knowledge and Skills: \nWide range of Controls engineering technological knowledge, including, but not limited to:\n\n Distribution hydraulic subsea equipment.\n Topside equipment\n Sensing and control systems.\n Ethernet communication systems at the physical and/or network level.\n Instrumentation and noise.\n Optimization of hardware and firmware integration architecture for best performance.\n\nDemonstrated ability to learn technical concepts, follow established procedures, and work effectively as part of a team.\n\nWork Environment: \n\n\n Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak.\n Frequent need for manual dexterity – using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.\n Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.\n Regularly required to sit and stand for long periods of time.\n Frequent use of PC is required.\n Wear steel-toe shoes, safety glasses and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed in safety zone areas.\n
