Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Job Description

This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in a commercial agricultural facility. You will work with a variety of raceway systems, power distribution, controls, and low-voltage systems while ensuring compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications. 120 per day per diem.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems for a commercial agricultural facility.
• Run and terminate EMT, rigid conduit, cable tray, and related raceway systems to support power and control circuits.
• Pull wire and install power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems according to project requirements.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, project specifications, and one-line diagrams to plan and execute work accurately.
• Install and connect motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), control panels, disconnects, transformers, switchgear, and related equipment.
• Complete electrical hookups for ventilation, grain handling, feeding, processing, and other associated systems as required.
• Perform testing, startup support, commissioning, and troubleshooting of newly installed electrical systems to ensure proper operation.
• Follow the National Electrical Code, South Dakota requirements, site safety rules, and project quality standards at all times.
• Coordinate daily work activities with the superintendent, project management team, and other trades to support efficient project progress.
• Maintain organized work areas and tools, and track material usage accurately to support effective project management and inventory control.

Essential Skills

• Active Journeyman Electrician license accepted for work in South Dakota.
• At least 3 years of commercial or industrial electrical construction experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, including the National Electrical Code, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency in running and terminating EMT, rigid conduit, cable tray, and other raceway systems.
• Ability to pull wire and install power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, project specifications, and one-line diagrams.
• Experience installing and connecting motors, VFDs, control panels, disconnects, transformers, switchgear, and related equipment.
• Ability to use electrical testing equipment and troubleshoot power and control circuits.
• Ability to work independently from plans and complete installations with limited supervision.
• Understanding of and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and other safety protocols.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass project-specific screening and site orientation requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with electrical systems in commercial agricultural or similar industrial environments.
• Familiarity with ventilation, grain handling, feeding, and processing systems from an electrical perspective.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain clean work areas, manage tools, and document material usage.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with project management, supervision, and other trades.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, code-compliant installations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a commercial agricultural facility with a strong emphasis on field-based electrical construction work. You will work with EMT, rigid conduit, cable tray, power distribution equipment, lighting systems, control panels, motors, VFDs, transformers, and switchgear. The environment involves coordinating with other trades and project teams on an active jobsite, following site safety rules and South Dakota regulatory requirements. Work hours align with typical construction schedules and may require flexibility to meet project milestones and support testing, startup, and commissioning activities. Dress will follow standard construction site expectations, including appropriate workwear and required personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Aberdeen, SD.

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Aberdeen,SD.
