Orthopaedics - Clinical/Translational Research Coordinator II

Job Summary The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), led by Principal Investigator Kristin Archer, PhD, seeks a dedicated Clinical Research Coordinator to support multi‑center, Department of Defense–funded randomized clinical trials focused on spine surgery outcomes. Responsibilities Manage and update study protocols to maintain compliance. Lead Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes, including initial submissions, amendments, and continuing reviews. Oversee patient recruitment, enrollment, and follow‑up for participants undergoing spine surgery at VUMC. Facilitate collaboration with the Principal Investigator, spine surgeons, and rehabilitation providers to uphold protocol integrity. Organize and lead weekly meetings with the PI, co‑investigators, and study staff to review and report on study progress. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of study procedures and communication with investigators and federal sponsors. Ensure research is conducted in accordance with Good Clinical Practice Guidelines and sponsor guidelines. Recruit appropriate individuals for study participation through chart review, screening, and interviewing. Enroll eligible study participants and conduct assessment procedures in clinic or remotely. Schedule participants for initial and follow‑up appointments and conduct follow‑up calls, emails, or mailings related to study activities. Communicate regularly and effectively with investigators and other team members regarding study protocol. Maintain the study database and prepare data reports. Attend weekly research team meetings and contribute to a positive work environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years of clinical research experience. Strong commitment to advancing innovative healthcare solutions. Employment Details Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, traditional daytime business hours. Primary work location: Vanderbilt Medical Center East, South Tower and 2525 West End Ave, Nashville, TN.
