Accountant

Position Summary Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Government Services Cluster (GSC), ACFO Executive Officer. This position examines, analyzes, and interprets accounting systems and records and provides financial advice and assistance on accounting/financial management matters to programs. Responsibilities include preparing and interpreting financial reports, advising management on the status of accounts, performing reconciliations of accounts, maintaining documentation for audit trails, auditing accounting transactions, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing accounting reports, assisting with conducting complex financial studies, identifying accounting situations or problems, and making recommendations for the adaptation of internal controls and ensuring the reliability and security of funds and records. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Two (2) years of progressive experience performing related duties such as processing and reconciling financial transactions, assisting with preparation of financial reports, and verifying accuracy of financial data. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree earned at an accredited U.S. institution in accounting or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration, supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. Up to six (6) hours of business law may be included. Applicants must submit an official transcript that verifies a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field and 24 semester credit hours in accounting in order to be considered. If applicable, the application package must include a foreign credential course-by-course evaluation of all foreign transcripts, provided by a NACES or AICE member organization.
