Description

American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a psychiatric inpatient unit requiring 2+ years of experience and MD or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work on a General Adult Behavioral Health inpatient unit within a psychiatric facility
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Patient ratio of 1:10
• No on-call responsibilities
• Float to any age population as scheduling requires
• May be required to serve as charge RN during shifts
• Uses Sunrise (Allscripts) EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active RN license (MD or Compact) required in-hand at time of consideration; temporary licenses not accepted
• BLS certification required; CCG certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred, especially experience opening a new unit
• Sunrise EMR experience preferred
• Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, suicidal behavior, and trauma-related disorders
• Skilled in physical hold protocols, crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and managing assaultive behavior
• Experience with medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications
• Knowledge of seclusion protocols and legal aspects of voluntary/involuntary commitment
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Maryland via Livescan prior to start

• Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with a range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
• Navy blue scrubs required

• Orientation occurs every other Thursday and includes required training modules
• Modules are completed during orientation and annually, covering specialty-specific topics
• Strict drug screening policy in place; medical marijuana cards are not accepted and candidates must pass on the first attempt
• One pre-approved RTO request allowed

• Former permanent employees must wait one full year before applying for a travel position
