Field Service Technician

Position Overview As a Field Service Technician, you will implement innovative water and vapor treatment technologies in the field and support operations pilot demonstration units. You will assist Project Managers during awarded jobs to review scope, roles, responsibilities, and safety, and apply environmental engineering principles to modify, test, and operate equipment used for waste treatment and site remediation under the direction of engineering staff or scientists. Annual compensation range: $60,000–$80,000, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. Responsibilities Perform operations and maintenance of environmental treatment equipment (pumps, filters, tanks, pressure vessels, and other process units). Understand system hydraulics, mechanical operation/functionality, and instrumentation/electrical control schemes. Support fabrication activities and hands‑on set‑up of bench and pilot testing equipment. Execute piping/skid fabrication in shop and field, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical system issues. Collect samples using various sampling methods and operate field monitoring equipment (PID/FID, pH, EC, DO, GEM, turbidity, water level, LEL meters). Measure and record treatment operational data, document results on field forms, and prepare daily reports and data sheets. Conduct monitoring, sampling, testing, and basic evaluation at various locations; complete chain‑of‑custody forms and label samples per regulatory protocols; deliver samples to an environmental laboratory. Enter monitoring data into electronic spreadsheets, Word, and Excel. Ensure proper labeling and handling of hazardous material and waste. Exercise safe work practices, follow company safety rules and OSHA regulations, and attend required safety training. Communicate promptly with Project Managers regarding site conditions and activities. Interact with clients as a front‑line representative, maintain professional appearance, and wear appropriate PPE. Participate in continuous improvement programs and support team efforts. Keep up‑to‑date on industry trends through formal training. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 3+ years mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, environmental collection, monitoring, sampling, testing, and basic evaluation. Valid Class C driver’s license with clean driving record. NFPA70E training or willingness to complete. Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time. Ability to complete and maintain 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification with annual 8‑hour refresher. Capability to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to deliver/receive electronic documents. Interfacing with cross‑functional teams and all levels of personnel/management. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Solid organization and time/project management skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills; legible handwriting. Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with supervision of construction projects. Background in electrical, plumbing or other mechanical trades (electrical preferred). Competency in HVAC, mechanical and electrical. Ability to operate systems via PLC SCADA. Associate’s Degree in Environmental Studies or related technical certification. Work Environment & Physical Demands Out‑of‑office responsibilities require up to 75% travel (typically out of state, Monday‑Friday). Occasionally extended operations may occur. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, using hands and fingers, bending, standing, walking; exposure to temperature extremes during field work.
