Role Description The Physician Assistant Certified will work full time on-site in the Greater Chicago Area, collaborating with psychiatrists, therapists, and other mental health professionals to deliver high-quality outpatient care. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, obtaining detailed medical and psychosocial histories, and performing mental status examinations. The role involves developing and implementing treatment plans, prescribing and managing medications under established protocols, and monitoring patient progress, including those receiving Spravato and TMS treatments. The Physician Assistant Certified will provide patient education on diagnoses, medications, and treatment options, maintain accurate clinical documentation, and participate in interdisciplinary case consultations. Additional responsibilities may include supporting quality improvement initiatives, contributing to a collaborative practice culture, and participating in ongoing professional development. Qualifications Current Physician Assistant certification (NCCPA) and active, unrestricted Illinois PA license, or eligibility to obtain licensure before start date. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies or related field preferred. Clinical experience in psychiatry, behavioral health, or a closely related field, including familiarity with outpatient mental health settings. Demonstrated skills in comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment planning for diverse patient populations. Proficiency in medication management for mental health conditions, including monitoring effectiveness, side effects, and safety parameters. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic alliances and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Comfort working with innovative treatments such as Spravato and TMS, with willingness to follow detailed protocols and training requirements. Ability to maintain thorough, timely electronic health records and adhere to regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards. Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and person-centered care, with sensitivity to patients from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including managing a steady outpatient caseload while maintaining quality of care.
