Duties

• Clinical duties: The exact privileges and procedures for a particular provider will be approved by the Professional Standards Board. All chiropractors must provide the following:
• Patient care: Chiropractors are expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.
• Medical/clinical knowledge: Chiropractors are expected to demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care and the education of others.

• Chiropractors are expected to show effectiveness in teaching, monitor and coordinate educational activities, and comply with necessary trainee supervision.
• The incumbent reports to the Whole Health Clinical Director for general oversight and direction.
• The incumbent meets the needs of customers while supporting the VHA and Beckley VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.
• The focus of this position is on the provision of chiropractic services to Veterans and other eligible patients at the Beckley VA Medical Center. These Veterans/patients ranging from adult to geriatric, having a variety of disabilities. This position requires the incumbent to possess or develop an understanding of the particular needs of these types of patients. Sensitivity to the special needs of all patients in respect to age, developmental requirements, and culturally related factors must be consistently achieved.
• The incumbent protects printed and electronic files containing sensitive data in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws, Federal regulations, VA statutes and policy, and VHA policy. He/she protects the data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. The incumbent follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc. Uses word processing software to execute several office automation functions such as storing and retrieving electronic documents and files; activating printers; inserting and deleting text; formatting letters, reports, and memoranda; and transmitting and receiving e-mail. He/she uses the Veterans Health Information and Technology Architecture (VistA) to access information in the Medical Center computer system.

Work Schedule: FT, Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm
