Tractor Technician

Job Title: Tractor Technician Department: Maintenance Location: Glendale, Arizona, United States Job Type: Full time Job Summary Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for performing intermediate-level maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment. Technicians must troubleshoot issues, complete all fleet maintenance processes, and ensure that units meet J.B. Hunt specifications at all times. The role may require work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends beyond overtime. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and more difficult repairs related to tractor maintenance, including fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems, and FHWA inspections Assist with onboarding and mentoring of new Tractor Technician trainees Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training for OEM repairs Troubleshoot tractor issues; work independently and seek assistance as needed Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers at all times Accurately perform intermediate-level repairs to company and manufacturer specifications, complete work orders, and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines Shift Schedule Shifts may vary based on location and business needs. The role may include overtime and variable shift patterns. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age with 1-2 years of experience in semi‑tractor maintenance and repair, training, and/or military equivalent experience Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed At least 1 year of experience in DOT or FHWA inspections and air brakes Own or ability to supply required basic tools for the role Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent Effective written and verbal communication skills Physical ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs Ability to multitask and read technical documents in English Comfortable wearing appropriate protective gear/PPE Team player as well as independent worker Strong listening, computer, deductive reasoning, organizational, problem‑solving, time‑management skills, and self‑motivation Compensation Competitive pay ranges based on experience, skills, education, and geography.
