A concrete carpenter, also known as a concrete form carpenter or cement mason, is a skilled tradesperson responsible for building and installing temporary structures (formwork) that mold and support wet concrete until it sets. They work on foundations, walls, slabs, columns, elevated decks, bridges, highways, and residential or commercial buildings, playing a critical role in the early stages of construction


Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project plans to determine dimensions and layout for concrete structures
• Measure, cut, and assemble lumber, plywood, and metal components to fabricate formwork
• Install steel reinforcement such as rebar or mesh within forms to strengthen concrete
• Mix, pour, and finish concrete using hand tools and power equipment, ensuring smooth, level surfaces
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding, shoring, and bracing to support elevated forms
• Remove formwork after concrete has cured without damaging the structure Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order and adhere to job site safety regulations
• Monitor project progress and report issues to supervisors

• Strong mechanical skills, manual dexterity, and physical stamina to lift heavy materials and work outdoors
• Ability to read blueprints, follow building codes, and apply safety procedures
• Experience with carpentry tools such as power drills, circular saws, hammers, and concrete finishing equipment
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
